Principles and Objectives
Principles: In the pursuit of our vision, we will adhere to the following principles:
- Preventing injuries, illnesses, and incidents is a valued business practice
- All injuries and illnesses are preventable by anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of causative factors
- Management at all levels is personally responsible for providing leadership, accountability, and resources to prevent injuries, illnesses, and incidents
- Adherence to safety policies is a condition of employment for all employees
Objectives: Fundamental objectives underlying our vision are:
- Prevention of all injuries and illness through proper management of causative factors
- Acceptance and practice by all employees and contractors of our safety and health principles and policies, both on and off the job
- Provide consistent safety and health training throughout the company
- Recognition as the premier environmental services provider in occupational safety and industrial hygiene performance.
Implementation: To reach these objectives, we have implemented the Loss Prevention System (LPS) throughout the ENSOURCE companies. This tool is a behavior-based safety system designed to help strengthen our culture of injury-free and incident-free operations while also providing a base for strong, competitive performance. LPS is comprised of seven tools that are integrated into how we run our business. These tools are as follows:
- Safe Performance Self-Assessment (SPSA) – is a paperless, quick and effective three-step hazard and risk assessment tool consisting of the following:
a) Ask – “What can go wrong?”
b) Ask – “How do I reduce the risk?”
c) Take action to ensure the job is done safely.
- Job Safety Analysis (JSA) – A simple process to break down a job into tasks, identify potential hazards and provide written safe work procedures to avoid hazards.
- Root Cause Analysis Flow Chart (RCAF) – A chart that leads investigators through a range of possibilities for factors that cause or contribute to incidents. There a total of eight root causes that fall into three categories (Personal, Job and External)..
- Loss Prevention Observation (LPO) – A systematic, standardized tool for observing a work process and determining if the job is being done according to specific standards.
5&6. Loss and Near Loss Investigations (LI & NLI) – These investigation are conducted to determine the root causes, contributing factors and to implement solutions to prevent recurrence.
7. Stewardship – The daily, weekly and monthly management of the LPS tools
